Heck yes. Aussies are great people. And they are outgoing in general also.
I am Australian. Whether you make Australian friends depends on a number of factors, such as how much effort you put into finding friends and how nice your car is, etc.
If you try hard enough it’s likely you’ll make friends.
As a prejudiced New Zealander – I have to admit you’ll probably do OK.
There is a certain amount of anti-US feeling in both countries, and a lot of good-will, too.
But we’re both very friendly in general – which is why we’re popular as tourists as well as hosts.
(But you’d have been better off coming to “Godzone”/”God’s Own”!!)
