    and if u’ve ever seen cricket all great batsman play the ball late.thereby getting extra time 4 adjustment.

    and the shot he played at 8:10…none of ur countrymen wud have played tht shot in their entire cricketing history

    i have noticed that. he didnt even hit one in this game but scored 281 runs. in test cricket, you dont really need to hit 6’s. laxman can hit even decent balls for four while a lot of batsman who have the ability to hit 6’s cant. as long as he keeps hitting boundries, its all good

  6. I’m not concerned with the wicket. And I think players need more than “patience and luck” to make runs, to say that this innings was built on patience and luck is sacrilege. I think that maybe you should watch more cricket. Many experts rate this as one of the best and I think that they know a little bit more about cricket than you son.

    Mark Waugh didn’t hit many sixes, this is a test match anyway, sixes aren’t essential. The Australian bowling attack doesn’t bowl many bad balls anyway,s o sixes can sometimes be hard to come by.

  9. You need to watch more cricket. It was an inning on dead wicket where only skill one needs is patience and luck. The amount of time he needed to play front foot shots could easily get him in trouble on any sporting wicket.

  10. This innings and Lara’s 153 against the Aussies are the best knocks that I have ever seen. Both against decent attacks, both match winning innings, and both full of amazing strokeplay. Two great players at their best.

    im sure the unassuming Laxman wont even admit that he almost single handedly changed the fate of indian cricket with this masterpiece.
    the other was when young rebels yuvraj and kaif teamed up in the natwest final vs england and kicked their ***** .. that was sweet ;)

    What do you mean by Australia’s best attack in the history of the game? In every sense this is one of Australia’s worst possible attack in the history, if not the worst ever! However, I can’t think of any attack that can stop VVS Laxman when he is in his supreme touch. The only attack that can give it the closest contest is the famous West Indian pace ‘Quartet’ of 70’s and early 80’s.

  21. As a player Laxman is as frustrating as Gower was: No matter how brilliantly he performs, he always impresses that he can do even better. I sincerely believe him to be a batting genius, possessing qualities that Gower, Azharuddin & even Lara possessed. I was delighted by his double century in Delhi yesterday; as a good Australian I want us to win the series, but I am thoroughly excited to see him bat in Kolkata; if he plays like in the above innings, no one shall be more pleased than I.

    I’ve always thought as good as VVS has been against us he underachieved against other nations. If he played against all teams like he did against us he’d be equal with Sachin IMHO.
