All of you Federer fans, I know he is a great champion. I watched him upclose practicing with James Blake in Cincinnati this past fall. It was awesome. Nadal has just simply taken over. I hope Roger wins Wimbeldon, which will make the US Open so interesting.
Laver played when everyone sucked, so stfu
True dat!

“Federer deserved to win that game”: LOL!!
AWW Fed shouldn’t be upset he should remember that he has accomplished loads and there is more to come. Nadal well done you are a great champion I hope you also get all four one day.

I think the best answer to the “the better person/team lost” is: that’s why they actually play the games. If every match or game went to the favorite, why would we watch?
That assumes Federer really is better than Rafa, which the facts don’t bear out. The 1960 Yankees were much better on paper than the Pittsburgh Pirates–the difference between Federer and Nadal, if any, is slight. And head to head, Nadal is arguably better.

‘greatmya’, I understand where you are coming from, definately. Thing is though, particularly in sport, is that the team/person who is better can often still be the looser. Like All Blacks loosing in the ‘07 rugby world cup. Like Brazil loosing in the football w/c.
So often people can watch sporting events of all kinds and be left with the feeling that the person/team that lost deserved to be the winners; particularly when the reason they lost was down to something they usually get right.

what do you mean he deserved to win. Why didn’t he then. Laver won the grand slam twice and missed 5 years of his prime. You are truly an idiot.
For the record Rafa13 Federer 6 in head to head matches
Do not judge any of both, Federer or Nadal. Their professional career’s haven’t finished yet and so they might still hold many Grand Slam titles, so the popular “Fed-Nad” isn’t over yet. The season started really as many people wished: an incredible first Grand Slam of the season. Federer handles 13 GS meanwhile Nadal up to 6. When their careers are over, we will see who was the best of both. In my opinion, SAMPRAS is still the all-time Num. 1 spot in the Tennis history.
Thanks.

do not cry stupid man, i am sure you will improve sampras grand slam record, but you have to be patient and do not think too much about it. If you can do it i am sure you will win many more grand slams than sampras. ha ha ha.

roger federer is the best player in the history … laver havee nothing to do in this comparation. Federer deserved to win that game!
I could not agree more–if you can pick a best ever (and I’m not sure you can compare across generations) it would be Laver.
Two complete grand slams. Everyone, including Pete Sampras, says he would have won 18-20 majors if he hadn’t been barred for 6 years as a profressional.
I had the privilege of watching him twice in the mid 1970s at the US Open (which was still on grass at Forest Hills in those days). He was past his prime, but still a great competitor.
These are just my observations of this final.
In Wim and RolGar ‘08, sure his serve% was fine but that was then, this is a different final; different match entirely.
Looking at this match, Fed still won sets 2 and 4 serving poorly. Poor serving meant he couldn’t back up his breaks in set 1, and set 3 tie-break was lost again, mainly, through poor serving. If he had just served that bit better he could have won in 3/4 sets; but he didn’t, because Rafa stopped him. Rafa deserved winner
in the end… the only thing that matters is to win… and thats why nadal won… and what about feds serve% in wombledon and french open 2008?
(In addition to previous comment)
So my observation was (basically), “Fed would have won if he had served the way he did in Semi of Masters Cup ‘07.”
Look at 3rd set tie-break… he threw away with double-fault.
So WHY did Federer not serve in Aus.Opn.Finl the way he did in SF of M/C’07?
Simple.
Anyone who plays tennis, even casually, will know how hard it is to serve when you are nervous and under the cosh. Nadal made him nervous, he tensed up, snowball effect, errors, championship, Nadal.

Few observations…
Fed’s 1st serve % was very low but still won two sets (6-3, 6-3) against world #1.
Fed was up a break in 1st set and had chances in 3rd; being able to break your opponent (as Fed was) is useless if then can’t hold your own serve. Also, holding service points in t-b is essential; try winning t-b against #1 serving badly. You will loose.
Fed 5th set was horrid & Nadal was good BUT… if Fed had served well earlier, no 5th set. Fed would have won. Masters Cup ‘07 SF = proof.
they are the best players. I love their matches and i hope that Roger will win next time
he should have said
RAFA IS KILLING ME
Benefits of Taekwondo
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Vamos Nadal
Federer thinks tennis has been created for him. Hence why he cries so easily. He could beat Nadal if he sorted his tactics out. Nadal beats Federer so easily because he adats well to each player he plays. Federer plays the same against everyone.

the greatest is right behind them: Rod Laver.
no Roger, it won’t kill you just makes you stronger. Don’t give up champion!
